Frequently Asked Questions
How do I reset my password?
Go to the Login page and click Forgot Password. Enter your registered email and we'll send a 6-digit OTP. Enter the OTP, set your new password, and you're in. The OTP is valid for 10 minutes.
How do I sign up? Is email verification required?
Yes — when you sign up, a 6-digit OTP is sent to your email. Enter it to verify and complete registration. This keeps your account secure from the start.

Does XpenzThozha sync across devices?
Yes — it's a cloud-based web app. Log in from any phone, tablet, or desktop browser and your data is always up to date. You can also add it to your home screen for an app-like experience.
Can I delete my account permanently?
Yes. Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes all your transactions, wallets, categories, and personal data within 24 hours. This action cannot be undone.
How does the free trial work?
Every new account gets a 30-day free trial with full access to all features. The trial countdown is shown in the sidebar so you always know how many days are left. No credit card is needed to start.
What happens when my trial expires?
Once the trial ends, subscription-locked features (Add Transaction, Wallets, Categories, Budget Plan, Monthly Statement, Auto Transactions, etc.) will require an active plan. You can upgrade anytime from Pricing in the sidebar.
What plans are available and how much do they cost?
We offer three plans: 1 Month – ₹19, 3 Months – ₹50, and 6 Months – ₹100. Payments are processed securely via Razorpay. If you already have an active plan, purchasing again extends your existing expiry date.
Is the payment secure?
Yes. Payments are handled by Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. XpenzThozha never stores your card details. Every payment is signature-verified before your plan is activated.
What types of transactions can I add?
You can add Income, Expenses, Investments (mutual funds, SIP, stocks, gold, etc.), Borrow/Lend, EMIs, and Credit Card payments — all from the Add Transaction page.
How do I transfer money between my own wallets?
Go to Wallets from the sidebar and click the ⇄ Wallet Transfer button. Select the From and To wallets, enter the amount and date, then click Transfer Now. Both wallet balances update immediately and it won't count as an expense.
How does the credit card wallet work?
Add a Credit Card wallet under Wallet Manager → Add Wallet → Credit Card. Set your credit limit, bill date, and due date. Expenses charged to the card increase your outstanding balance. When you pay the bill, record a Card Payment under Add Transaction → Credit Card — this clears the outstanding and debits your bank wallet.
How do EMIs work in XpenzThozha?
Go to Add Transaction → EMI and tap + Add New EMI. Enter the loan name, lender, EMI amount, total tenures, and start date. Each month, tap Pay EMI on the EMI card — it debits your wallet and advances the progress bar. The card also shows your next due date.
How do I track money I've lent or borrowed?
Use Add Transaction → Borrow/Lend. Toggle between Lend (you gave money) and Borrow (you received money), enter the person's name, amount, due date, and wallet. When repaid, open the record and mark it as Settled — the wallet balance updates automatically.
What is Auto Transactions and how does it work?
Auto Transactions uses the XpenzThozha Android app to read your bank SMS messages and automatically detect transactions. Detected entries appear in the Pending tab under Auto Transactions — you can review, edit, and approve or reject them before they're saved.
How do I install the Android app?
Download the APK from the Auto Transactions Guide above. During install you'll need to allow installation from unknown sources, grant SMS permission, and allow restricted settings access. Open the app, tap the ⚙ Settings icon, and enter your registered account email to link it. See the full guide for step-by-step instructions.
Why does the app need SMS permission?
SMS permission is required to read bank transaction messages locally on your device. This is the only way the app can auto-detect payments and credits. Your SMS content is never uploaded or shared — it's processed only to extract transaction details for your account.
Auto transactions aren't being detected accurately. What can I do?
Go to Auto Transactions → Keywords tab. You can add or tune keywords that match your bank's SMS format to improve detection accuracy. Always review pending transactions before approving — you can edit the type, category, wallet, and amount before saving.
Can I export my data?
Yes — go to Monthly Statement → Export to download your transactions as an Excel Sheet for any date range you choose.
How does the Budget Planner work?
Go to Budget Plan from the sidebar. Select a month and switch between Expense Plan and Investment Plan tabs. Set a budget limit for each category. As you record transactions during the month, the planner fills progress bars showing actual vs. planned spend. Categories over budget are highlighted in red.
Is my financial data safe?
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. Passwords are securely hashed using Werkzeug and never stored in plain text. Each account's data is fully isolated — no other user can access your records.
